POLICYNational Policy SupportSeeking to build knowledge around our 19 years of experience in induction, the New Teacher Center has engaged in a number of proactive strategies to inform and shape the national discourse around support for new teachers and administrators. Through the facilitation of policy conversations at our annual symposium, presentations at key education conferences, dissemination of research and policy publications, and consultation with national and state policymakers, the Center has contributed to the nation’s understanding of the power of high-quality mentoring and induction. New Teacher Center SymposiumIn 2005, the New Teacher Center began development of a policy strand at its Annual Symposium. Bringing together policy leaders from around the nation to talk about and grapple with issues related to induction policy, the Symposium provides a forum for networking, problem-solving, and vision building among those dedicated to building high quality supports for new teachers and administrators. Additional Research to Inform Policy Leaders:In addition to publications specifically targeted to policy makers, the New Teacher Center research unit conducts regular, ongoing studies into the impact and benefits of teacher and administrator induction. This research illuminates issues and nuances that are sometimes overlooked, but are critical to understanding the full impact of induction. |
