POLICYInduction InstituteThis four-day Institute focuses on building the capacity of participating teams to develop and implement an intensive model of beginning teacher support based upon the principles and practices of the highly successful New Teacher Center Induction Model. It is guided by the belief that learning to teach requires support from skilled mentors who (1) assess and respond to new teacher's needs and (2) promote classroom practices that improve all students' achievement. Purposes
ParticipantsThis Institute is designed for educators who (1) develop and implement policies and programs that support beginning teachers and/or (2) oversee and conduct professional development for the mentors who work with beginning teachers. Participation is limited to teams comprised of three to six members from the following groups: mentor program coordinators, staff developers, curriculum and instruction administrators, human resource administrators, superintendents and assistant superintendents, principals/site administrators, mentor teacher leaders, union leaders, or university faculty. |
